Concerning the annexation/assessment for the proposed Fig Garden Police Protection District.

 

1. 

How many officers does the Sheriff have in this area at all times?

What is the beat of Lincoln 21 and Lincoln 23?

How many shifts and hours of duty in the Fig Garden Police Protection District?  Is it 24/7?

What is the term of the Districtís contract with the Department (Sheriff)?

Does the Fig Garden Police Protection District Board have the ability to contract with City

of Fresno, private security, or other enmities?

The State legislature has passed legislation that does not permit any more police protection

districts, why?

When does the voting take place?

Is the voting by mail or by ballot, and who is counting the votes?  County election officials,

LAFCO, or Fig Garden Police Protection District?

A 2/3 approval is required to pass on the annexation at this time 3-25-06.  Could this be

As originally proposed in 2003 the cost was $225/year it is now $299/year.  What will be the cost in 5 years?

The Fig Garden area has given up on their Fire Protection District at a proposed cost of

$530/year.  Add that to $299/year and it equals $829/year. The city has taken over fire protection. What will happen to the Police Protection District in the future?

Will our proposed assessments provide surplus or deficits funding for the district?

Will the contract arrangements impact my ability to seek assistances from my county

Supervisor?  Do I contact my county supervisor, Sheriff, or the Fig Garden Police Protection

Could someone from the FGPPD (Fig Garden Police Protection District) or the FGHOA (Fig Garden Homeowners Association) answer some of the questions being asked by the residents of proposed annexation area?

 

How much of the LAFCoís $40,000.00 filling fee was paid?

 

Who paid the fee?

 

What is the fee the Fig Garden Homeowners Association (FGHA) paid? 

 

What is the fee the Fig Garden Police Protection District (FGPPD) paid?

 

Is this fee to be reimbursed to FGHA/FGPPD in any way from new assessments?

 

Will our assessments be used to correct any prior deficit spending by the District?

 

Why have we not been provided with even the most basic budget information to show where our money will specifically be spent?

 

What is the budget for the FGPPD?

 

Will our assessments be paying for costs in addition to officer salaries (office supplies, training, billing services, etc.)?

 

What assistance will be provided to seniors living on fixed incomes who cannot afford the new assessment?

 

Does a current contract exist to substantiate the accuracy of anticipated costs?

 

Specifically who is responsible to negotiate contracts for the District?

 

Are contract terms between a District and Department public information?

 

How will our proposed total assessments compare to the actual total cost that will be required under the contract with the Sheriff's department?

 

How many officers will be employed by the District?

 

How many officers will be employed by the District per shift?

 

How many shifts and hours of duty?

 

Since officers are paid varying salaries/benefits based on tenure, how will our cost per officer compare to Departmental salary cost averages?

 

How many Deputies could/would be on patrol at any one time in the proposed 640 acre area?

 

Will the Department remove the existing patrols from the areas proposed for annexation or will they continue those patrols in addition to the patrols provided by contract to the District?

 

Will the areas proposed for annexation see an increase, or decrease in officers on patrol at any given time?

 

Could the City of Fresno provide better police protection?

 

If the FGPPD already has the safest streets in the state, why donít they cut back the hours?

 

What are the actual crime statistics in area #1?

 

What are the actual crime statistics in area #2?

 

What are the actual crime statistics in area #3?

 

What are the actual crime statistics in area #4?

 

What are the actual crime statistics for the current District?

 

Why canít we vote on this annexation/assessment?

 

We would encourage FGPPD, FGHOA, or LAFCo to answer these questions. I have personally asked FGHOA some of these questions and have not received a response.
